S.O.N.A.R. – Submarine Operators Not Actually Ready launches on Steam on October 29, 2026, at $9.99 per copy, with an additional 15% launch discount. If your group wants an affordable multiplayer game to play together, put this co-op submarine adventure on your radar. Better still, try the free demo before anyone reaches for their wallet.
You bring the friends. We’ll provide the submarine. Between you, there’s a reasonable chance someone will remember to steer.

A game night everyone can afford
Getting friends together for a new game usually involves negotiations. One person is interested. Another is waiting for payday. Someone suggests playing the same thing you’ve played every Friday since approximately the invention of electricity.
We wanted to make that conversation easier.
This is something we’ve thought about a lot. From the beginning, we wanted S.O.N.A.R. to be an affordable game; something you can easily pick up with a few friends and spend an afternoon causing absolute chaos together… or actually finishing the campaign and spending dozens of hours exploring and battling it out in the open world mode. That part is entirely up to you.
So, we’ve decided to launch S.O.N.A.R. at $9.99 / €9.39, with an additional 15% discount and regional pricing adjustments, to make the game accessible to as many players as possible.
That’s the plan: make it easier to get everyone aboard. Choosing a captain is your problem.
What do you get for under $10?
Developed by Abylight Barcelona, S.O.N.A.R. is an online co-op submarine simulator for one to four players. Your crew operates a shared vessel, with ten stations covering duties including navigation, diving, sonar, engineering, and damage control.
You’ll track threats, handle repairs, and coordinate your next move. Missions include combat, stealth, protecting cargo ships, and recovering treasure.
It sounds manageable when written down.
Then your friend announces that they’ve spotted something. Another asks which direction to go. You’re trying to get a useful answer from either of them while wondering whether the person responsible for repairs has understood the urgency.
This is where a regular evening with friends acquires a story you’ll still be arguing about next week.
Who gave that order? Who ignored it? Why was everyone so confident?
We recommend keeping your defence brief. There’s probably something else that needs doing.
An afternoon of chaos, or a longer adventure
Some groups want a game they can jump into for an afternoon. Others want a shared project: a campaign to finish, places to explore, and a reason to arrange another session.
We’re building S.O.N.A.R. for both kinds of crew.
Play through the campaign together, or spend your time exploring and fighting in the open world mode. Set yourself an objective, persuade your friends to agree with it, and see how closely the evening follows your original intentions.
There’s satisfaction in getting better together. The first time, you might spend half the session asking questions. Later, you’ll recognise what needs doing and trust someone else to handle their part.
At least until they announce they’ve had an idea.
You know that tone of voice. You’ve heard it before. It rarely precedes a sensible decision.
Wishlist S.O.N.A.R. and get your crew ready
If you’re looking for a coop game under $10 on Steam, S.O.N.A.R. launches at a price designed to make joining your friends an easy decision. The additional launch discount brings the cost down further, with regional pricing adjustments for different markets.
Start with the free demo. Learn your station. Find out which friend you’d trust in an emergency, and which one you’d prefer to keep within sight.
Then add S.O.N.A.R. – Submarine Operators Not Actually Ready to your Steam wishlist for the October 29 release.
Send the link to your crew while you’re there. You’ve found the game, settled the budget, and supplied the submarine. Surely they can manage to agree on a time.
All hands to battle stations. See you in the deep blue!
